My Background

Hello! I'm Davia Pugh, I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2022, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, majoring in Advertising from the University of South Carolina in Columbia (USC). I'm also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I'm currently finalizing my Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from USC and will graduate in May of 2024. 

This semester, I'm completing my practicum at WMBF News in Myrtle Beach. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, exercising, and trying new foods. My goal is to become a nationally recognized journalist. I love being able to be a voice for the voiceless by telling compelling stories and connecting with others from all walks of life. From my coursework and newscasts for Carolina Insider at USC, interning as a Multimedia Journalist at WMBF, and becoming a 2024 CBC-UNC Diversity Fellow, I've been able to grow my skills in video editing, scriptwriting, on-camera presenting, and producing. 

I love the impact Journalism has on the world, it's how we know what's happening around us every day. Since I was little, I've always loved storytelling and broadcasting, and it's grown to where journalism is a profession that I'm very passionate about. As graduation approaches, my goal is to secure a job as an on-air reporter or a multimedia journalist. I'm interested in reporting on health, education, and entertainment topics.
